Let's talk about abstract compositions.
I have wondered to myself whether abstraction works in 2D. If the lines and shapes, normally brought together by a long focal length become flat and suddenly rely on the aesthetic appeal they pertain. I think abstraction works best in 3D, with depth. Most of my 2D abstracts fail at being 2D abstracts. They may have atmosphere due to their exposure and processing, but the play of lines and compositional sense they don't. And I don't think there's any way to learn this. Only time, patience, skill, vision and persistence. So when I try to create a blurry 2D abstract, there is a phenomenal level of luck involved. The lines must be straight and unwavering according to my personal taste, and there must also be that play between the lines which, although possibly visible in a sharp image, are also washed away in a blurry image.
So to take a good blurry image of a 2D abstract you need to things, vision and lots of luck. So applying that, does this work? Would love to hear your opinions.

Vision, luck but also technique.
You need to find the right speed, direction for the move, the right speed for the exposure,... Digital camera is great for that.

Yes, I suppose that's true, but surely that is the most straightforward part?
