The Night Willows Factory

A walk along the busy Rhein river tonight, on a little path. It's never dark. 1 kilometer away the airport looms, 5 in the other direction, all the Bayer industry and breweries, barges tug down and car streetlights can sometimes be seen. It puts my life in perspective to an imaginable degree. So, a billion billion atoms make up this full stop. That tells me nothing. So, it would take me a billion billion light years to reach the edge of the universe. I haven't got that long actually. When I see all the lights on the motorway, or lit up in factories, or on boats, or on bicycles with annoying red flashing lights, all of us living, doing something insignificantly important. That is on the spectrum of believability and perspective. 100,000 people. Another ten kilometer radius and 700,000 people are added. That I can't imagine.
Funny, as individuals we are insignificant, but as a group of individuals, united by our individuality against nature, we matter.
